What we actually do

A kitchen remodel, handled by one team.

California Cabinets designs and installs complete kitchen remodels for homeowners throughout Fresno and Clovis. Because we handle cabinetry, countertop fabrication and flooring in-house, a kitchen remodel here means one design, one schedule and one person to call — not three contractors blaming each other for the same delay.

Most of our kitchen work is a full replacement in a home someone is still living in. That shapes how we sequence it: cabinets ordered and delivered before demolition starts, counters templated to the cabinets once they're set, flooring scheduled so you're not walking through a construction site longer than necessary.

Scope

What a kitchen remodel includes

Cabinetry

Full-overlay, inset and shaker doors in painted, stained and natural wood finishes. Dovetail drawer boxes and soft-close hardware throughout. Islands, custom hoods, pantry systems and integrated appliance panels designed into the layout rather than added on.

Countertops

Granite, quartz and stone composite fabricated in-house and templated to your installed cabinets — not cut from drawings. Edge profile and backsplash height chosen with the door sample in front of you.

Flooring

Engineered and solid hardwood, stone composite and waterproof plank, and tile. Selected against the cabinet finish before ordering, so the floor and the cabinets don't fight each other.

Storage & function

Roll-out trays, pull-out pantries, trash and recycling pullouts, drawer dividers, spice racks, toe-kick drawers. Designed around what you actually reach for, not a catalog default.

Hardware & finishing

Top Knobs and Jeffrey Alexander pulls and knobs chosen against your door sample in the showroom — brass, matte black, satin nickel and bronze, in matching lengths across wide and narrow drawers.

Layout changes

Moving an island, relocating a sink run, opening a wall into the dining room. We draw it first so you can see the change before anyone commits to it.

Not ready for a full remodel?

Kitchen upgrades, not just full remodels.

Plenty of kitchens don't need tearing out. If the layout works and the boxes are sound, a targeted kitchen upgrade gets you most of the change for a fraction of a full remodel — and it's often the smarter spend.

  • New countertops only. The single biggest visual change per dollar in most kitchens.
  • Island addition or replacement. Adds prep space, seating and storage without touching the perimeter.
  • Storage retrofits. Roll-outs, pull-out pantries, drawer dividers and trash pullouts inside your existing cabinets.
  • Hardware refresh. Top Knobs and Jeffrey Alexander pulls change the read of a kitchen in an afternoon.
  • Flooring only. New hardwood or waterproof plank throughout, cabinets untouched.
  • Custom hood or pantry. One statement piece, built to match what's already there.

Ken will tell you honestly which of these is worth doing on your kitchen and which isn't — including when the answer is to wait and do it properly later.

California Cabinets did an amazing job on our Kitchen. Every time people are over they compliment our kitchen and the quality of the work. We can't recommend Ken enough.

Ken remodeled my kitchen 7 years ago. I loved it then, but I love it so much more now. The kitchen space was designed for easy use and it certainly has been. Couldn't be happier all these years later.

His design renderings were very helpful and detailed, especially with moving our kitchen around to make it more user friendly than it was originally designed.

Kitchen remodeling questions

The questions we get asked most often at the showroom. If yours isn't here, call and ask — we'd rather tell you straight than have you guess.

Start Your Kitchen

It depends on the size of the kitchen, the cabinet line, the door style and finish, and whether counters and flooring are included. We carry lines at several price points specifically so a design can move up or down in cost without changing its look. We quote each kitchen individually after measuring, and you get a materials list with an honest range rather than a number pulled out of the air.

Lead time is driven by the cabinet line. Custom-look lines typically run several weeks from order to delivery; fully custom takes longer. Installation itself is much shorter than the wait for cabinets. We give you a real date range at the design stage.

Most of our clients do. We order and receive cabinets before demolition begins so the kitchen isn't sitting torn out waiting on a delivery, and we sequence counters and flooring to keep the disruption as short as it can reasonably be.

No. Plenty of clients do cabinets and counters only. But if the floor is coming up anyway, doing it while the room is already apart saves you a second disruption later — and it's the only time the new cabinets and new floor can be chosen against each other.

Yes. Moving an island, changing a sink run or opening a wall are common. We draw the change first so you can see it, and we're upfront when a layout change means plumbing or electrical has to move.

That's a large share of what we do. New countertops, an island, storage retrofits inside your existing cabinets, a hardware refresh or flooring on its own will each change how a kitchen reads without a full tear-out. Ken will tell you which is worth doing on your kitchen and which isn't.

Yes — Fresno, Clovis, Madera, Sanger and the surrounding Central Valley. If you're not sure whether you're in range, call and ask.
